Bridget’s Adventures

Just back from Toronto, Haliburton and Montreal and it is good to be home. It makes Brandon seem mighty small and I am grateful for that. Yes, there is all those cultural events, shopping and fine restaurants in the big cities but I wouldn’t trade it for a minute, actually it made me want to move to an even smaller place, like Newdale haha. What it also did was give me a renewed appreciation for Lady of the Lake, I know I am tooting my own horn, but really, there is none other like it…we care, we are loving, we appreciate you and we are unique in this world. So, please don’t take us for granted, you and I are very lucky to have this place to shop, dine and be entertained.

Now, on to the juicy bits of the travels…Toronto, Cory and I worked very hard to search out all the fabulous new merchandise for the fall and “Christmas Around the World” season. We spent one day in downtown Toronto, walking through Kensington Market and a few other funky areas. At night I stayed with a couch surfing (couchsurfing.org, a travel network) friend, Nelson. He lived in the gay neighbourhood of TO and I got to experience my first drag queen shows. Wow, guys are girls and girls are guys and some you can’t tell which and isn’t it wonderful that we have a world where we can just be who we want to be. Nelson was super hospitable and took me to an interesting Japanese restaurant with an hour waiting line. They yelled in Japanese, hello, goodbye, and every dish of food that came from the kitchen, very noisy and fun. I didn’t really go for the raw salmon with the raw egg in it…but the rest was yummy.

Then, I travelled off to Haliburton. A friend that I met in Mexico has a very homey country place complete with backyard swimming pool. It was such a relief to get to the country and be able to smell green and see blue. It was a lovely week of playing music with friends and laying by the pool. I had a small brush with fame…I go to be Dan Hill’s personal assistant for a concert at the “Forest Festival”. Do you remember Dan Hill…somehow when we touch, the honesty is too much, I want to hold you till the fear in me subsides…well, he has become a profession song writer and writes for Celene Dion and Back Street Boys and a few others. Nice gentleman with great hamstrings.

Then off to Montreal to meet Christine and spend a week in our cute little apartment downtown. Every morning we enjoyed a lovely French breakfast on the upstairs balcony. It overlooked very rustic old apartments complete with laundry on the line. We checked out the Montreal show and ordered more great products and also walked and walked and walked around the city seeing sights and always talking about what we liked and what we didn’t like about the shops and restaurants. Trying to evaluate all the emotions we were experiencing so that we could bring home new ideas and incorporate them into Lady of the Lake.

Best get back to business, and I am on babysitting duty for a couple of days. Have a bountiful fall. Love to all, Bridget
